Therapeutic Massage

The most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy. It involves long, rhythmic kneading strokes, as well deeper circular stokes and friction to increase blood flow and break down scar tissue. By relieving muscular tension, Swedish therapy can be relaxing, energizing, and it may even help after an injury.

Deep tissue massage is best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff “trouble spots” in your body. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, deep tissue massage can be quite therapeutic — relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries, such as back sprain.

Developed to help with muscle systems used for a particular sport, sports massage uses a variety of approaches to help athletes in training — before, during, or after sports events. It promotes flexibility and helps prevent injuries. It helps rehabilitate muscles and
strains, especially after a sports injury.

Shiatsu is a Japanese manual therapy technique which requires no massage oil at all for glide, but rather relies on perpendicular pressure point therapy, stretching and direct manipulation of the energy flow in the body. With our addition of Thai Massage techniques, there is constant body contact between the giver and receiver. Your body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked for unique therapeutic benefits. It’s as if you are being assisted in doing your yoga practice, and you remain passive and relaxed.
