Rouben Madikians
Rouben Madikians, a 500-E-RYT, LMT and BCSI, was first introduced to Hatha yoga through a friend at age eighteen. It was Maya’s, his first teacher’s dazzling eyes and her open heart that drew Rouben to study with her, not really knowing what yoga was or what he was doing, but his trust for Maya’s prana.
Years passed but the influence of Maya stayed with Rouben throughout his career as a flight attendant. Then came the transformation and the gift of the seed planted by Maya. Rouben, has spent the last years traveling the world studying and exploring yoga in all of its facets. In addition, he spent three years studying, serving and working at Kripalu as a yoga teacher and a massage therapist. He draws on his adventures as a flight attendant as well as his own multi cultural background and his senior teachers, and passion for anatomy when teaching. Yoga, is a life long journey with multitude of tastes, sensations and depth – ever changing and ever so sweet that allows us to connect beyond what we thought and expand the realm of possibilities.
Rouben is passionate about the discovery of ways to create vibrant health through diet, exercise, study, letting go of past trauma (samskaras), and contemplation. His daily yoga and meditation practice fuels his seeking. He believes in giving back to the community, his motto is “give where you live”, giving without the expectation of receiving. He has supported AIDS organizations, turned inner city empty lots into community gardens, watered city trees, founded an urban yoga studio, and shared his practice by assisting and serving others. Rouben is a seeker and continues to learn every chance he gets inviting all textures and flavors of life through his meditation yoga practice and his massage and Yoga Therapy.
Rouben has cultivated his own style of yoga and awareness that creates an atmosphere of self-acceptance and fun, inviting a dynamic exploration of the body, mind and soul. Rouben combines his meditation practice, passion for bodywork, knowledge of anatomy, and studies of therapeutic yoga to create a safe exploration of body movement. He embodies yoga as a playful discovery. Students experience movement in a whole new way, bringing together breath, strength, flexibility, grace, relaxation, and self contemplation, often moving beyond previously perceived limits.
