Yoga is a word from Sanscrit meaning union, becoming one with yourself and remaining still at the center of a storm. We offer a variety of classes from basic to more advanced, yet what remains consistent are the foundational principles of breath and consciousness through movement. Each teacher is dedicated to his or her own practice and in all humility brings themselves to the mat as a student as well as a teacher inviting you to join them in a deeper physical, emotional, mental and spiritual self-exploration.
Rhythms offers a variety of yoga classes:.
Advanced Beginner Yoga (Intermediate) - This class has been designed almost as a yoga 102 for the beginners who are ready to be challenged a little more. Still following the Anusara principles of yoga, the students are invited to go deeper in the postures and hold them for longer periods of time as well as trying more challenging postures.
Candlelight/Yin Yoga - Ahh, what a better way to end the week than coming to a yoga class where you get the chance to deeply unwind through a slow yogic flow, opening while holding poses and breathing deeply, pausing and relaxing in between postures in a dim candlelit room.
Deepening Your Practice - This class is for students interested in deepening their hatha yoga practice. It is a blend of longer holdings, mindful breath, synchronized flows and opening. Creative sequencing, cultivation of breath awareness and detail to alignment will allows the student to feel safe while exploring further into his/her practice. Toward the end of each class we'll take time to inquire into the art of sacred play taking you deeper into a challenging pose. (great prep for advance yoga postures class) You will leave class feeling strong and well balanced. One year of dedicated practice recommended.
Heart Centered Flow Yoga:
One of the key principle of yoga is
to help us lead a balanced life
where body, heart, mind and spirit
are all connected. It is said that
the heart is the seat of the soul.
It has the ability to guide us in
the midst of confusion and have us
lead a life filled with compassion,
appreciation and gratitude. When the
heart is open it has "coherence"
which is a rhythmical pattern that
influences the entire body into
harmony and healing. As part of this
class we will practice Asanas from a
heart centered place and end with a
brief heart centered meditation.
In the Flow Yoga- What
could be more relaxing &
rejuvenating at the end of the day
then breath and movement? Assisted
by music, you will be guided to
breath and move slowly at first to
warm up your body and let go of the
stress of the day. Following clear
principles of alignment you will be
guided to hold poses longer and go
deeper into those finding strength
and a deeper well of vitality. We
end the class with a brief
meditation and Sivasana.
Mindful Vigorous Yoga - The pace of this class is intended to gently raise the heart rate and build a good sweat around moderate-to-intermediate postures followed by a spacious and deep relaxation. The purpose of this class is to cultivate awareness and kindness, in order to breathe deeply and revitalize body and mind.
